Parent Teacher Organization
The PTO is a nonprofit group dedicated to improving the educational experience of all students at John Jay Elementary School. Parent involvement is imperative to support teachers and provide all students with anything additional needed.
John Jay offers our PTO meetings in both English and Spanish. We will have a translator present at all of our meetings. Community meetings are every other month as the schedule permits.

The John Jay PTO provides a forum for parents, teachers and staff to work together to provide enrichment of the student experience beyond the classroom setting. The primary function of the PTO is to plan and execute fundraising events. These funds are then used to:
- Enrich the student experience through fun and educational activities and events that are not otherwise available through the daily curriculum and the school district budget. Examples include: RIF Book Distributions, Cultural Arts Presentations and Assemblies.
- Build community among children, parents, teachers, and staff through activities and events that provide a forum for these groups to interact. Examples include: Fun Lunch, Teacher Appreciation Week, 5th Grade Celebration and Movie Nights.
- Improve the physical environment of the school and its surroundings or within the classroom. Examples include a Poster Maker and Recess Equipment.
- Allow for special requests for funds (when available).
Our meetings are the primary means for discussion and planning of events for the school year. These meetings provide the opportunity to get to know other parents as well as our principal, and other staff members. We welcome your time and talents to our school community. Please plan to join us at a meeting!
